Artist Statement
Many contemporary artists seek to articulate a personal grammar from our societies’ media and design environment. I expand this vocabulary buy adding street art flavor and ethnic imagery supported by solid techniques.
My work combines various painting grammars including, abstraction, printmaking, Pop topography, and style symbols that create pictorial topologies that draw us into an alluring world of desire. Objects shimmer and float above the picture surface like advertising icons.
Murphy Hill Gallery Interview
My concerns are of the social impact of the urban landscape and media environment rather than solely simulating private esoteric collage language. My Stop Signs, Turntables and street people occupy a zone, not quite in the world, but not quite in the mind. These objects exist in that moment of choice where we select with our TiVo’s, controllers, and iPods the nature of media experience.
